Must Know Fashion Hack for Rainy Weather

Have you been saying to yourself lately, “Rain, Rain, go away!”  Don’t wait until the next sunny day to wear those leather or suede  shoes. Here is our  fashion hack on how to waterproof your favorite shoes so that you can wear them  in the rain.

Before we get started, let’s talk about what shoes can not be waterproofed.  Patent leather, shiny soft leather, sequins and hair shouldn’t be waterproofed because it will ruin the material.

1. Find the right product to waterproof your shoe.  For instance, creams, oils and beeswax are great for soft leather.  Spray on waterproofers are best suited for suede, silk, and snakeskin.

2. Do a test on a small area to ensure the product will not change the color of the shoe.

3.  Make sure your shoes are clean before applying the waterproof product.

4.   Carefully follow the instructions on the product.

5. Be sure to cover any embellishments, jewels, and trims before applying waterproof product as it might damage them.

6.  Wait 24 hours before wearing  your newly waterproofed shoe in the rain.  Apply waterproof product once a year for added protection.
