Music City Chorus Performs “Go for the Gold”

The Music City Chorus is performing “Go for the Gold” tonight (June 23rd), at 8:30 p.m. at Otter Creek Church of Christ. The Music City Chorus and two of its quartets are headed to Pittsburgh, PA this summer to compete in international competition. The event is a fundraiser that will help send the members to the competition.

redzoneThe performance of the quartets will be the final send-off to the International Barbershop Chorus Competition. Barbershop music has become popular again in part to the television show “Sing Off” with Ben Folds.

The Music City Chorus is a membership organization of male singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. They currently have over 80 singers of all ages, all walks of life, and all parts of the Middle Tennessee area.

Included in the concert will be several Belmont students including one young man from Brentwood. Dalton Hughes graduated from Ravenwood High School and is pursuing his degree at Belmont. He had to audition and is one of the younger members of this prestigious group. Hughes is honored to be a member of the group and hopes others will embrace the sound of Barbershop as great music and entertainment.

Music City Chorus is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a non-profit organization of approximately 26,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Nashville, TN.
