Middle Tennessee State University is in the midst of its eighth annual True Blue Tour — its signature admissions effort covering 14 cities in four states to meet prospective students, their parents, high school counselors and community college staff.

President Sidney A. McPhee and other administrators and staff travel thousands of miles and make five overnight trips to recruit students for 2020 and beyond.

This year’s True Blue Tour kicked off for the second consecutive year in Murfreesboro on Aug. 21. The tour resumes soon as the team prepares for 13 more stops across Tennessee and in Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky.

MTSU will soon be in Williamson County for an upcoming tour event — 12:30 p.m. luncheon for counselors and community college staff and a 6 p.m. student reception, both on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs, 700 Cool Springs Blvd.

True Blue Tour and on-campus True Blue Previews and daily campus tours are free to attend for high school, homeschool and transfer students. To learn more and to register, visit www.mtsu.edu/rsvp.

Tour events include giveaways (registering to win scholarships, Phillips Bookstore gift cards and more), light refreshments and opportunities to speak to representatives about housing, financial aid, academic programs and meet deans and advisers from the various colleges within the university.

In Franklin, McPhee will announce a new guaranteed True Blue Scholarship, worth $8,000 ($2,000 per year for four years) for qualifying students with a 3.5 GPA and an ACT score of 23 or 24.

In 2018, MTSU announced a guaranteed Presidential Scholarship — $18,000 for four years ($4,500 per year) for qualifying students with a 3.5 GPA and ACT between 25 and 30.

Led by McPhee, Vice President of Student Affairs Deb Sells and undergraduate admissions director Linda Olsen, MTSU staff share news about the Murfreesboro university’s 300-plus programs and offerings, facilities and much more as it recruits outstanding students.
