Motorcycle Crash on I-65 Leaves Man Dead

A Petersburg man died this morning after a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 65 near I-840 according to the Franklin Police Department.

At 9:50 a.m. the 40-year-old man, still unnamed, lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a cable barrier at mile marker 59.4. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Franklin police officers responded to the scene and found him to be severely injured and on the ground. Paramedics transported the driver to Nashville’s Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Traffic Reconstructionists from the Franklin Police Department’s Critical Incident Response team are investigating. The driver’s identity is being withheld to allow family additional time to notify loved ones.

“Our hearts are saddened by the family’s tragic loss,” Franklin Police posted on their news page.
