More Information Released on Governor’s Club Shooting/Stabbing Incident

In a press conference Tuesday evening, Brentwood Police Chief Jeff Hughes provided more details surrounding a shooting and stabbing incident that occurred around 2:30pm at 28 Governors Way in the Governors Club subdivision in Brentwood.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered three victims: Emma Teeters, 39, Terry Teeters,78 (Emma’s father) and Jerry Matthews, 55 (Emma’s husband).

Police discovered that Emma and Terry had been stabbed and Matthews had been shot. Preliminary investigation shows that Matthews allegedly stabbed Emma and Terry. Matthews was subsequently shot by Terry. Matthews was declared dead on the scene. Emma and Terry were transported to Vanderbilt Hospital, where Emma passed away. Terry is undergoing surgery.

Chief Hughes also said that police were familiar with Jerry Matthews and had been to his residence before.
