Montessori Natural Playground is Open!

Montessori Natural Playground is Open – The Montessori School of Franklin celebrated a successful first phase completion of its natural playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 4th. Superior Essex was honored at the event because of its generous donation and Puckett’s donated 100 percent of its event profit to the school.

On October 4th, the Montessori School of Franklin, located at 244 Noah Drive, hosted a Puckett’s Food Trolley and RetroSno lunch event from 11 – 1 p.m. at the school. Neighboring residential areas and local businesses were invited to celebrate the developmental achievement by Superior Essex, which donated $20,000 to the Montessori school. Puckett’s surprised the school by donating their time and 100 percent of ticket prices to the school.

“This project began two years ago thanks to Superior Essex,” said Caroline Gannon, past president of the school’s board, “Only because of their generous donation, we were finally able to build a playground for our Montessori community and our present and future students will be able to experience nature at its best.” Natural Playgrounds are designed and constructed based on inspiration from natural environments. Being a part of the greening movement to reduce costly environmental impacts, these playgrounds offer higher play value at a lower cost and improve wildlife habitats and beautify surroundings.

Phase two of this playground will be underway soon, although fundraising efforts are still being discussed. This play space is not only for the school but also for the community it serves and stands as an out reached hand to the surrounding neighborhoods.
