The Montana-based Missoula Children’s Theatre returns to Franklin Monday, September 9th to present a local production of “The Secret Garden.” This is an original rendition of the 1911 children’s classic novel.
The Missoula experience is a venue for children to discover their stage presence and acting ability, and offers entry level roles for youth ages 5 to 18. Professional theatre staffers from Missoula Children’s Theatre conduct auditions, rehearsals and performances all in one week. There are acting roles for students of all ages, kindergarten through 12th grade, and approximately 50 to 60 local children will be cast.
Auditions for “The Secret Garden” will be held at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road, on Monday, September 9th, beginning promptly at 4:30 p.m. and continuing until 6:30 p.m. Children wishing to audition should arrive before the scheduled starting time and plan to stay for the entire two-hour schedule. No advance preparation or resumes are needed, but there is a $20 activity fee for each actor cast in the production, with payment due the first day of rehearsal.
“The Secret Garden” will dazzle audiences on Saturday, September 14 with a 2 p.m. matinee and 7 p.m. evening performance at the Freedom Middle School Theatre. Both shows are open to the public, and tickets will be sold at the Franklin Recreation Complex beginning on Monday, September 9 for $5 each, with children age 3 and younger admitted free. Tickets may also be purchased at the door prior to performances, if available. For more information, contact Janey Mason with Williamson County Parks and Recreation, (615) 790-5719, ext. 2030.
