Mill Creek Middle Principal Announced

From WCS InFocus

Trinity Elementary Assistant Principal Evan Yates has been named Principal of Mill Creek Middle School. Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney introduced Yates to the MCMS faculty last week.

“Evan is an experienced and innovative instructional leader,” said Looney. “As a member of the Nolensville community, he will make a seamless transition into the leadership role of Mill Creek Middle.”

Yates has more than 10 years of combined education experience as a teacher, coach and principal in North Dakota, Texas and Tennessee. He joined Williamson County Schools in January of 2018 as an assistant principal at Nolensville Elementary. He has served in the same role at Trinity since August of 2018. Prior to entering the education field, he worked with adolescents for three years as a program counselor for the Peninsula Village Therapeutic Treatment Center in Knoxville.

Yates says he is excited to return to the middle school setting where he began his teaching career as a math teacher.

“Serving at Trinity Elementary has been an absolute pleasure, but I am honored to be named the principal of Mill Creek Middle,” said Yates. “I started my WCS career in Nolensville, and I am so excited to return to the place my family and I call home. I am thrilled to join the excellent team in the work that is already happening at Mill Creek Middle School and look forward to developing new traditions within the campus and community.”

Yates holds a bachelor’s from Trinity College and a master’s from the University of Texas San Antonio. He will begin his new role January 1, 2019.
