Franklin, Milcrofton Customers to Receive Separate Bills

Beginning in mid-July, about 3,000 Milcrofton water customers will begin to get two bills for services rather than one.

The Milcrofton Utility District and the City of Franklin have historically billed their mutual utility customers on a single combined invoice for their collective services. While Milcrofton will continue to bill for water as it does today, the City will begin to directly bill its sewer, landfill and stormwater services. The change will not have any impact on the total amount billed, according to the City.

Customers currently paying by automatic bank draft will be required to complete a new authorization form for payment to the City of Franklin. That form can be found at www.franklintn.gov/milcrofton.

“Our billing relationship with Milcrofton has spanned more than 20 years and gone from a few hundred customers to nearly 3,000 and growing,” said City Administrator Eric Stuckey.  “Changes in technology and communication over time have brought us to a point where it is more cost effective for the City and our customers to use our own billing system. We estimate an annual savings of more than $100,000 for ratepayers by bringing this process in-house.”

A web page has been set up on the City of Franklin website for Milcrofton customers. There is also a frequently asked questions page and links to all the forms they will need.
