Mellow Mushroom Adds New Menu Items with Southwest Flavors

The menu at Mellow Mushroom is looking a little different these days. With a taste of the Southwest, poblano peppers, caramelized onions, and mole sauce have taken over the menu this summer.   Take a look at some new offerings at Mellow Mushroom and see what makes it the best destination for pizza and beyond. And for those of you who are regulars, don’t worry, all of your favorites are still on the menu.

Chicken Poblana Bowl – All natural chicken tossed in an authentic Mexican mole sauce topped with melted mozzarella served over a bed of spinach with roasted poblano peppers, caramelized onions, roasted mushroom trio with roma tomatoes topped with feta cheese.

Shrimp Rajas Salad–  A refreshing salad with field greens mixed with romaine topped with sautéed shrimp, poblano peppers, caramelized onions, roma tomatoes, sprouts and sunflowers seeds tossed in a zesty chipotle lime dressing.

If sandwiches are more up your alley, check out the  Holy Mole Hoagie– grilled chicken in a mole sauce made with tomatillos.  Topped with poblano peppers, caramelized onions, roasted mushroom trio  and mozzarella and feta cheese served in a hoagie roll.

Mel’s Fattie is a giant tortilla filled with natural chicken, mozzarella, cheese and caramelized onions, floating on top of a delicious tomato black bean and corn base, garnished with cheddar cheese, chipotle cream and avocados.

A new shrimp calzone has been added to the menu-  If you have enjoyed the cheese, steak or chicken calzones, this one is surely to be a new favorite.   Smokin Shrimp Calzone uses Mellow’s signature dough and it’s filled with shrimp, poblano peppers, caramelized onions, mushroom trio, Mexican chorizo sausage, and mozzarella cheese.

A lighter option added to the menu- Tortilla Soup. This dish is great for vegetarians. It is made with a tomato base, onions, black beans, and corn and topped with chipotle sauce and avocado. Chicken may be added for that extra protein.

Pizza is still the main focus at Mellow Mushroom.  Fully Blazed Chicken Mole Pie with the signature dough adds a Mexican Mole sauce made with tomatillos, chili and chipotle peppers.  Topped with chicken, caramelized onions, roasted mushroom trio, mozzarella and feta cheese. It is an explosion of flavor with just a little heat!

Did someone say dessert?  Mellow Mushroom just added Psychedelic Cookie Sundae with your choice of triple chocolate chunk cookie, oatmeal raisin, or peanut butter made with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups served with all natural vanilla bean ice cream drizzled with Hershey’s chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream and,of course, a cherry on top.

It’s a balance of heat and sweet with two new cocktail offerings this summer. El Diablo Margarita featuring Milagro Silver, Crème de Cassis, St Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh agave sour and fresh jalapeno, served with a rim chili lime salt and sliced fresh jalapeno.

Hot Mama Margarita  is a spicy blood orange margarita with Milagro Silver, Solerno blood orange liqueur, fresh ginger, agave sour and Mellow Meringue served with a half rim of orange cayenne salt and a garnish of sliced orange.
