Matt Logan & Jake Speck Move From Background to Stage in Latest Production

Studio Tenn

It’s never been done before- Studio Tenn’s Managing Director, Jake Speck and Artistic Director, Matt Logan will share the stage in their latest production of Monty Python’s Spamalot

The two have been out and about promoting the upcoming show which opens on May 4. Watch the video where you can see them at the Franklin Farmer’s Market.

We talked with Jake Speck who will play the role of Sir Robin (Matt Logan will play King Arthur) to learn more about how Jake & Matt chose this production to work together on-stage as well as their behind-the-scenes duties that they continue to perform.

How do you continue your other responsibilities while you are on the show?
By not sleeping.

Why has it taken so long for both of you to be in a show together?
Matt and I take casting ourselves VERY seriously. We don’t want to be seen as “those guys who cast themselves in everything”. When casting one of us in a show, it really has to be right type-wise. The pressure for it to be right is big because we are the leaders of the company. There aren’t many musicals that have two lead roles that both Matt and myself are dead ringers for. We think Spamalot is one of those shows.

How did you select those parts, was it a hard decision?
Casting is always a difficult decision, especially when you are in an area with SO much talent. As far as the roles Matt and I are playing, that wasn’t difficult at all. It was very obvious to us who should play which role.

What is it like to not only work together but now perform together in a show?
Fun! It’s nice to be able to play and have fun together rather than everything just being about business.

Don’t miss this performance of Studio Tenn’s Monty Python’s Spamalot. Show dates are May 4 -21st at The Factory in Franklin, purchase tickets online here.
