Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint

Martin’s has become known as one of the best places to get barbecue in the Nashville area and owner Pat Martin’s 25 years of barbecue experience has made the restaurants a success. “West Tennessee’s legendary whole-hog BBQ tradition is the cornerstone of Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint,” states their site.

The restaurants have been featured on a variety of food shows including the Food Network, Travel Channel, Cooking Channel, and The Today Show and in publications such as Bon Appetit, Esquire, Conde Nast Traveler, and Men’s Journal.

Martin’s Barb-B-Que Joint has four Middle Tennessee locations – downtown Nashville, Belmont Blvd in Nashville, Mt. Juliet and Nolensville. They also have a location in West Virginia and Kentucky.

In Williamson County, you can visit Martin’s at  7238 Nolensville Rd in Nolensville. They are open 11am-9pm 7 days a week.

55 South

55 South has been a downtown Franklin staple, serving Southern, Creole-style fare in a casual atmosphere. Like any Creole inspired restaurant, they specialize in seafood, gumbo & oysters. If you love oysters, this is the place for you. You can even try to get your name on their Oyster Wall of Fame by eating a minimum of 10 dozen oysters in less than 30 minutes.

The name 55 South refers to the interstate that connects Memphis and New Orleans. Chef Jason McConnell has brought the cuisine you’ll find traveling down that road to downtown Franklin. McConnell, who has a degree from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., has created a menu with his take on down-home Southern comfort food. Fresh oysters are a feature of the menu, along with Southern-inspired bar snacks (smoked wings and green chile-bacon tater tots) and New Orleans cuisine (gumbo, po’ boys, jambalaya).

You can visit 55 South in Franklin at 403 Main Street. They are open Monday – Thursday 11am – 10pm, Friday 11am – 11pm , Saturday Brunch 10am – 2:30pm, Saturday Dinner 3pm – 11pm and Sunday Brunch 10am – 2:30pm.
