Local BBQ Joint Enlists Franklin Chef for Music City Food + Wine Festival

Music City Food + Wine Festival just announced that Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends will return with an all-star line-up of some of the most decorated chefs and pitmasters across the country. Celebrated pitmaster Pat Martin will be joined by a host of award-winning chefs, friends and wine and spirits experts to cook and serve an interactive, live-fire barbecue and grilling feast on festival grounds at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18, 2016.

One of the award winning chefs joining Martin will be Franklin chef and restaurant owner, Jason McConnell, who owns three downtown Franklin restaurants – Red Pony, 55 South, and Cork & Cow, along with the event space McConnell House. He also recently created the menu for the new Cracker Barrel restaurant concept, Holler & Dash.

“Last year was so much fun we had to do it again! It was great watching folks experience the different cooking methods we use over live fire and seeing how much they enjoy the show of it all and most importantly, the great food,” Martin says. “The really cool thing is all of these methods can be done at home so hopefully, we’ll inspire folks to try new ways of outdoor cooking and grilling in their own backyards.”

Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint & Friends area will allow festivalgoers to see, experience and taste wood-fired ingredients that have been slow roasted, grilled and barbecued on-site over live fire using a variety of cooking methods paired with wine, beer and spirits. Throughout the weekend, Martin and friends will serve whole-cooked meat and fish, including hog, lamb, goat, swordfish, mahi mahi, duck and chicken, as well as sausage, oysters, trout, primal cuts of beef, brisket, coal-roasted summer vegetables, and other ingredients cooked slow and low.

Dishes will be announced via social media and on-site chalkboards as they are ready throughout each day; festival attendees can follow along using #MCFW. Martin and friends will dish out tasting-size portions on a first-come, first-served basis.

Music City Food + Wine Festival ticket options include an All-In Ticket, as well as Saturday Day Ticket, Sunday Day Ticket and Harvest Night Ticket. All attendees must be 21 years of age or older.

The All-In Ticket ($500 per person) enables guests to experience the full weekend of Music City Food + Wine Festival, including access to cooking demonstrations, wine, beer & spirits tastings, intimate panel discussions, Saturday & Sunday’s Grand Taste tents, as well as Saturday’s Harvest Night.

The Saturday Day Ticket ($150 per person) includes single-day access to Saturday, September 17 festival programming at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, including cooking demonstrations, wine, beer & spirits tastings, intimate panel discussions, Chef Showcase and Tasting Sessions, book signings and Saturday’s Grand Taste tents.

The Sunday Day Ticket ($150 per person) includes single-day access to Sunday, September 18 festival programming at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, including cooking demonstrations, wine, beer & spirits tastings, intimate panel discussions, Chef Showcase and Tasting Sessions, book signings and Sunday’s Grand Taste tents.

Harvest Night ($275 per person) tickets are also available as a stand-alone ticket option. Hosted at the Walk of Fame Park in downtown Nashville, Harvest Night will offer guests the opportunity to sample signature dishes from over 15 of the nation’s most decorated chefs, paired with live music, curated by Kings of Leon.
