Mark Your Calendar for First Taste of Indy Event

Taste of Indy

On Sunday, September 17th from 4-7 pm, Independence High School PTSO will host the first annual Taste of Indy. The community is invited to come and enjoy an evening filled with delicious samplings from local restaurants, an amazing silent auction, cooking demonstrations by a Guest Chef, and live entertainment.

For those of you new to the idea of a food “tasting” event, restaurants provide samples of their specialties for you to taste. Your entry ticket allows you to sample food from as many vendors as you wish. Plus, you get to vote on which vendor provided you with the “Best Taste”. Stroll through the venue, under the cafe lights, while enjoying live orchestra & jazz music. Explore the silent auction with fabulous items like Disney World tickets, a Gatlinburg vacation property, dinner date packages, sporting events, jewelry and more.

The Taste of Indy has a real treat in store for attendees who love Alton Brown and/or Robert Downey Jr. What do these two have in common? Tamie Cook, a magnificent chef, who was the Culinary Director for Good Eats and is also the Iron Man star’s personal chef. Check out the event’s website tasteofindyihs.com to read more about Chef Tamie, see the wide variety of participating restaurants, bakeries, and other eateries, and get your tickets!

Event Chair, Erin Cornay stated, “We are so excited about our new annual event, Taste Of Indy! Our parents, students, and teachers are working together to make this mouthwatering food festival a success. The Independence Orchestra and Jazz band will be providing the live entertainment while other students are restaurant ambassadors and assistants to Chef Tamie. Our community has really gotten behind us as well. The sponsorship of the Springhill Chamber of Commerce and the generous support of our restaurants and businesses are ensuring a wonderful evening for the whole family to enjoy! It’s so exciting that this event will bring food lovers from all over Williamson and surrounding counties to our great school. Our vision is for this food tasting festival to become an anticipated community tradition.
