River Swing Presented by Nissan is scheduled for September 9, 2017, at River Circle Farm near Franklin. This marks the 14th year for the dinner, dance, and auction that supports the Harpeth Conservancy’s vision of clean water and healthy ecosystems for the rivers of Tennessee.

Christian Currey, Vice Chair of the Harpeth Conservancy Board of Directors and Founder of FarmVet, is co-chairing the event along with his wife, Kathryn Currey and his parents, Agneta and Brownlee Currey. The Curreys are honored to host the event at their farm, River Circle Farm, located at 1041 Sneed Road West in Franklin along the banks of the scenic Harpeth River.

“The Harpeth River is so much more than a river to our family and to our community. While the Harpeth is a destination for recreation, it also is a very important part of agricultural businesses, drinking water and our environment. Keeping the water clean and the ecosystem healthy is critical to Middle Tennessee. Just as the Everglades Foundation works to keep their waters and ecosystems thriving, that is what Harpeth Conservancy is doing here, and we are honored to be a part of it,” Currey said.

River Swing is expected to draw more than 600 guests. The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the organization, which not only raises funds but also showcases the mission and work of the organization, according to Dorie Bolze, President, and CEO of Harpeth Conservancy. “It is fitting that the Curreys are hosting the event along the banks of the scenic Harpeth River where guests can see our work first-hand,” she said.
Bolze noted that River Swing is one of few zero-waste events in the area. The event organizers work with Waste Management, The Compost Company and Whole Foods to make sure that every item used is recyclable, compostable or reusable.

Currey added that supporters have donated unique auction items that highlight the river. These include:

  • Painting from local artist Claudia Gifford (and also other artwork from Anne Blair Brown, Paul Harmon, Betty Wentworth and Ron York);
  • A canoe trip down the Harpeth River with a picnic at a private landowner’s property;
    And, a stay at a quaint cabin perched on the banks of the Harpeth.
  • Other auction items include a seven night stay in a 3 bedroom unit at The Pointe, a new luxury hotel in Inlet Beach, FL; two night stay at The Greenbrier; party for up to 50 at Little Harpeth Brewing Company, and many more.

Passed hors d’oeuvres and a bountiful buffet are donated by Whole Foods Market, and Lipman Brothers will provide beverages for the evening, along with water from Real Water. Guests will be entertained under the stars to popular dance tunes from one of the area’s favorite bands, Higher Ground.

Tickets to River Swing are $175/person or Tables of 10 for $1,750 and are available at www.riverswing.org. Corporate Sponsorships are also available.
