On Saturday, Dec. 17, Mantra Artisan Ales releases Guru Gish, a smooth, rich milk stout brewed with caramel, vanilla and peanut flavoring.

Guru Gish will be available for purchase at the Mantra taproom in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles ($11.99).

The creation of Guru Gish has been three years in the making, a labor of love between Mantra Brewmaster Derrick Morse and the late Jeff Gish. Gish, a close friend of Morse and a fixture in the Nashville beer community, passed away this summer after a long battle with kidney cancer.

Morse and Gish based the flavor of Guru Gish on Gish’s favorite local candy. As Morse puts it, “this beer tastes like a rich, decadent candy bar; perfect for a cold night by a warm fire with family and friends.”

In addition to the product release, Mantra will also be auctioning off a 3-liter bottle of Guru Gish at the taproom on Saturday with proceeds going to the Gish family to support the Kidney Cancer Association.

Guru Gish is the ninth packaged release from Mantra. The brewery recently launched Big Juicy Dank, a 16-ounce canned India Pale Ale with notes of citrus, tropical, orchard and berry fruits combined with fresh hops, muddled pine needles, citrus peels, and chive. Prior to Big Juicy Dank, Imli, a sour brett beer with notes of tamarind and fennel, was released in 375 milliliter bottles.

In addition to its packaged products, Mantra has produced more than 77 beer varieties since the brewery opened in 2015. These flavors rotate on the 24 taps at Mantra’s taproom and select beers are served in bars and restaurants in Middle Tennessee, Knoxville and Chattanooga.

Mantra Ales is located at 216 Noah Drive, Franklin. Hours of operation are Monday- Friday 3 p.m.-9 p.m., Saturday noon-10 p.m. and Sunday noon-6 p.m.
