Spring Hill Police have released the name of the victim and suspect, still at large, from a homicide shooting Sunday.

At 1:38 p.m. Sunday the SHPD was called to 2822 Iroquois Drive in response to the shooting of Phillip Pero, 35, of Hohenwald. Upon arrival, officers were notified that the victim was located in the garage area of the residence with a gunshot wound. Medical personnel determined that Pero was dead.

Officers secured the scene and began collecting statements from subjects on scene. Detectives observed a single gunshot wound on Pero, and a .40-caliber Smith Wesson firearm nearby.

Residents of the house said James Rush Huddleston, 34, of Murfreesboro, had shot Pero. Huddleston left before police arrived. The men were acquaintances through the people at the house, Lt. Justin Whitwell, Public Information Officer for SHPD said. The residents reported hearing Huddleston say he shot Pero.

“Beyond that, as for motive we won’t know until we talk to the suspect,” Whitwell said.

As for where the suspect might be, police are currently working on it.

“He resides in Murfreesboro but we don’t know that he didn’t just pick up and take off,” Whitwell said.

A warrant for Huddleston has been obtained from Williamson County for the charge of Criminal Homicide.

Huddleston may be traveling with a small child and his girlfriend, Victoria Phillips, 22. He fled the scene in a 1997 Red Cadillac Seville with a faded hood and aftermarket wheels.

“We urge the public to not approach Huddleston if he is located, but rather contact your local law enforcement agency,” Whitwell said.
