Main Street Festival Features Outstanding Musical Performances

Daphne and the Mystery Machines will headline the musical performances at Franklin’s Main Street Festival presented by First Tennessee, coming to historic downtown Franklin April 23-24.

The up-and-coming Franklin band brings its unique alternative folk sound to the Guitar Center stage on Main Street at First Avenue on Saturday, April 23, at 7 p.m. The haunting harmonies served with a delicious serving of strings by members Daphne Culver, Jenn Palmer, Samuel Clint Damewood, Chase Arocha and Tyler Boone will delight the ears of all that hear their new sound.

Right before the performance Guitar Center will be giving away a $150 gift certificate from the Guitar Center stage. For information on how to enter the contest, visit www.Facebook.com/HistoricFranklin.

Performing Sunday morning at 10:45 for the first ever “Worship on the Square” are contemporary Christian artists JJ Weeks Band and David Dunn. Dunn was a contestant in season two of NBC’s The Voice. Worship on the Square will be held on the Xfinity Stage on the Public Square, and is sponsored by Centricity Music and WAY-FM.

Non-stop entertainment will continue all weekend on both stages. Some of the acts slated to appear on the Xfinity Stage are Radio Farm, The Darlins, The Kate Hastings Band, Bito Mann, Jake Anderson, and Zack Joseph and the Society. Guitar Center Stage artists include Wiley Chandler, Carmen Brandy, Oxford Fall, the Cerny Brothers, Amber’s Drive, and Anthony Adams and the Night Owls.

Children’s performers Huck and Lilly will perform on the Xfinity Stage on the Public Square on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

In addition to outstanding musical offerings, Main Street Festival will include a juried arts and crafts show featuring some 150 artists with handmade wares. Fine art, jewelry, pottery, leather work, wood items, photography, home décor, furniture, and more will be for sale along Main Street from First Avenue to Fifth Avenue.

More than 25 food vendors will offer a variety of tasty options, from standard street festival fare like corn dogs and funnel cakes, to international offerings including French, Asian, and Greek cuisine. Food will be available in two food court areas, on Fourth Ave. South and Third Ave. North.

A kids’ area on Third Ave. South will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, a variety of inflatables, and more, for a small fee.

For dessert, be sure to stop by the King Arthur Flour Bake Truck near the Xfinity Stage on the Public Square. King Arthur will be collecting donations for the Heritage Foundation and its preservation efforts in Williamson County in exchange for a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie.

Three photo ops around the Public Square will give festival goers the opportunity to capture the perfect shot.

Offsite parking and shuttle service to downtown will be available at Harlinsdale Farm and Church of the City on Saturday, and at Harlinsdale Farm and Franklin High School on Sunday. Rides are available for $1 per person per ride. Pets, food, and non-folding strollers are not permitted on the shuttles.
