Made South Brings Gumption Conference to Franklin

 MADE SOUTH, the Franklin-based company will present the 2019 GUMPTION Conference. Southern creators, leaders, and innovators will share how they use food, drink, music, photography, storytelling, poetry, woodworking, and spray paint to positively impact the region’s future. The conference will be held Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at The Factory at Franklin. 

“GUMPTION is a non-traditional conference where guests will experience the amazing things that are happening in our region,” says Chris Thomas, founder of MADE SOUTH in a release.  “You will hear from leading creators, see amazing art, and taste delicious fare. Our hope is that you will leave the conference encouraged and inspired by the South’s creativity and hospitality.”

Local speakers include Will Anderson, founder of Nashville’s Salemtown Board Co.; forBecks, a self-taught Nashville street artist; Brett Henry, owner and operator of Honest Coffee Roasters in Franklin; Odessa Settles, an artist and activist in Nashville; and Blake Wylie, a Franklin-based tintype photographer.

Featured speakers include columnist and novelist Sean Dietrich; Beth Ann Fennelly, Poet Laureate of Mississippi; Jeff Henderson, an Atlanta entrepreneur and pastor; Kevin Jennings, an Atlanta business coach and CEO of Junction 32; Ashley Jones, founder and director of Love Not Lost, a nonprofit photography company in Georgia; Eric and Kelley Roundtree, the bakers and business minds behind Tree House Macarons in Georgia; Jeff Shinabarger, founder and director of the nonprofit Plywood People in Atlanta; and Leigh and Cliff Spencer of Alabama Sawyer, a company that creates environmentally sustainable furniture and products in Birmingham.

Those interested are encouraged to sign up quickly as there are limited spots to keep the event small. There are two ticket options – VIP and General admission.

VIP tickets (limited to 100 guests) include: admission to a Friday evening cocktail reception presented by Eli Mason, a three-course community supper, and special performances, admission to all Saturday sessions with reserved seating, community lunch, and closing cocktails presented by Eli Mason. VIP guests will also receive a gift bag, event journal, and complimentary Mountain Valley Spring Water and Honest Coffee. 

General tickets (limited to 200 guests) include: admission to all Saturday sessions, event journal, and complimentary Mountain Valley Spring Water and Honest Coffee.
