Humphrey’s latest project includes his dog Maddie, an adorable and obviously patient coonhound who Humphrey adopted from a rescue shelter in Georgia. She seems up for any of the hijinks her guardian wants to get into … and then some. She also has a knack for balancing on things.

They’ve traveled all 50 states in pursuit of Humphrey’s photography, which ended up morphing accidentally into a project centered around Maddie balancing on various things along the way. “While out on the road, I wanted to remember my companion I was traveling with so I literally put her on the roof of my truck and took a photo.” He says of the moment that started it all. “She just stood there and looked at me and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s so amazing Maddie.’”

Currently a documentary, Why we Rescue  is in the works featuring Maddie and how rescued pets have changed their guardians lives.

Maddie visited the Natchez Trace and according to Instagram lives in Nashville. Follow This Wild Idea on Instagram for more of Maddie’s adventures.
