Local Youth Advisory Council Members Participate in Prom Fashion Show

Belk Prom Fashion Show 2014

On Saturday March 8, Belk at the Cool Springs Galleria presented a Prom Fashion Show where United Way of Williamson County Youth Advisory Council (YAC) members, from local area high schools across Williamson County, participated.

While the audience enjoyed seeing the fashions modeled by both teen girls and boys, the true reward comes from the monies raised to benefit the area’s nonprofit agencies.

“Last year we raised about $6,400, and it was hard to choose from all the great programs that applied,” said YAC leader and UWWC board member Marina Dunn, who attends Page High School.

“Several of the programs help kids our age and their families, so it really made an impression on us and encouraged us that we were really making a difference,” added Savannah Fulmer, also a YAC leader, UWWC board member and Page student.

For 2013, Youth Advisory Council selected five local agencies to support: Center for Living and Learning, a collaborative program between Graceworks Ministry and Community Housing Partnership, Mercy Community Healthcare and Waves Inc. and Community Childcare.

Students for the fashion show were styled by Katie Rushton of Effortless Style in  up-to-the minute looks from short dresses to long Old Hollywood glam looks, teen boys modeled classic prom attire like the dark classic suit to the white dinner jacket. Jodi Rall hosted the event again this year giving us fun facts about each student. To learn more about the United Way Youth Advisory Council visit, www.uwwc.org.
