A local teen, who has become an inspiration for many, will perform at Westhaven’s Porchfest Saturday, June 17th.

Seventeen-year-old Raymond Cruz, of Franklin, is dealing with something most youth don’t have to worry about. He was diagnosed with stage four Ewing’s-like Sarcoma cancer five months ago.

While battling cancer, Cruz has touched the lives of many people with his zest for life, dazzling smile, and outrageous talents. He recently showcased a new song he wrote on his Facebook page. Cruz stated, “I wrote the chorus from messages that touched me that people messaged me.”

Cruz will perform at 3:50pm Saturday on the Family Stage.

He recently shared on his Facebook page that his last radiation treatment is scheduled for June 21st and he will continue chemotherapy until September.

Blandina Cruz, Raymond’s mother, told us, “Raymond believes with the support of his family, friends, and community, he will beat this terrible disease. Come out and support this wonderful young man. We would love to see you all there!”
