scripps national spelling bee

This year’s 2017 Middle Tennessee Regional Spelling Bee, hosted and sponsored by the Tennessee Titans, was held at Nissan Stadium Saturday, March 11, 2017. The Bee had its winner selected after 16 rounds with 61 contestants. These contestants were chosen from local bees through a computerized online test, to narrow the field to 70 participants.

The winner for this year’s competition is Sydney Aslan, who was sponsored by the Williamson County Homeschool Group. She was the winner of their Bee in January.

Her winning word was “recursive”. She will represent Middle Tennessee in the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held outside of Washington, D.C. on May 31, 2017.

With this significant win, the Williamson County Homeschool Group can boast that they have produced 5 of the last 10 regional winners to advance to the National Finals. Congratulations to Sydney Aslan.
