Local Pro Within Reach of Cut at PGA Championship

Last year , he was all over Sportscenter when he sunk a 100′ putt at the PGA Championship for an Eagle in the first round of the PGA Championship. That day he shot a 7-over and missed the cut at 5-over. Fast forward a year to the PGA Championship, and Johan Kok , PGA pro at The Hideaway in Arrington, and the 25 year old South African from Brentwood,Tn. finds himself in reach of the cut after shooting a 5-over after the first day.

Shooting 2- over on the front 9 and 3-over on the back 9, Kok finds himself at 11 strokes behind the present leader Dustin Johnson who is in at 6-under at the writing of this article. While there is still some golf to play, Kok finds himself in good position going into day 2 to make the cut. No pro has made the cut in the PGA Championship in the last 3 years.

There are 20 pros in this year’s PGA Championship, Kok is the youngest at 25.

Kok teed off the first tee at 6:55 a.m. this morning with Hideki Matsuyama and Brendan Steele. Friday he will tee off at 12:10 from the first tee with the same group. Williamson Source will follow the action and let you know how he does!
