Local Pastor Shares Two Ways You Can Help Those Affected by Hurricane Matthew

The Village

Earlier this week, as we were beginning to hear about Hurricane Matthew, Pastor Travis Garner from The Village Church in Nolensville, addressed those affected by the hurricane and asked the local community to pray for those in Haiti in his weekly Facebook Live.

“Our prayers are with everyone involved, and we invite you to continue to pray with us for all who are and will be impacted.”

Pastor Garner shares two very important ways anyone can help those affected by Hurricane Matthew as well as shares this week’s message, which is about faith and politics. Watch the video in its entirety below.

He also said the church was going to be supporting UMCOR – United Methodist Committee On Relief in their relief efforts. UMCOR has been talking with their partners in Haiti keeping updated on the damage. While their facilities haven’t been damaged as far as they know, there has been damage to some of the children’s families’ residences in the area. As of the last update, they also hadn’t heard from a large portion of their partners who lost communication services.

If you would like to help with the UMCOR relief efforts, they are taking donations in preparation of supporting Haiti, the Caribbean, and anywhere else that will need help with damage from the hurricane. For financial donations: isit their Support website. For donating supplies, they regularly take supply kits, and the information for these is located on the Relief-Supply Kits website.
