3. Historic Rural Life Festival


WHAT: 
Held in May, this annual event is a great opportunity for children to discover the rural past of Tennessee, enjoy old-time activities, see honey bees in an observation beehive and touch farm animals too! Your group will see the crafts and chores that were a routine part of farm life before the advent of electricity. Butter churning, spinning, blacksmithing, weaving and pottery making are just a few of the activities. 4. Studio Tenn Presents “Grease”

WHAT: It’s 1959, and Rydell High School’s senior class is in rare form. Studio Tenn brings the too-cool-for-school “T-Birds” and smoking hot “Pink Ladies” to the Jamison Theatre, paying tribute to a cult classic that has influenced every generation. A show immersed in bright lights, big colors and a showcase of songs that are sure to rock the jukebox, Grease adds the perfect amount of lighthearted laughter to balance the scales of the Studio Tenn season. This rocking musical paying homage to the fifties will take audiences back to a time of drive-in movies, malted milkshakes and the age-old desire to be rebellious. So put on your poodle skirts, grab your saddle shoes and join Studio Tenn in this 2017-2018 season finale where Grease is always the word!

5. O’More College of Design Fashion Show

WHAT: For more than two decades the O’More Fashion Show has been a launching pad for student designers and groundbreaking talent. Over the years the runway has served as a centerpiece for original designs that are cutting edge in terms of style and technical execution. On May 10, the show enters a new venue and a new era as the historic Franklin Theatre hosts the annual O’More Fashion Show before the College merges with Belmont University. The 2018 show will feature the Collections of O’More’s Senior Class. It will also continue a longstanding tradition of collaborative efforts. Sophomores and Juniors will present designs created with Naia™, a fiber engineered by Eastman Chemical Company, a Tennessee-based Fortune 500 enterprise. And the Show’s opening act, contemporary dance group New Dialect, will perform in costumes designed by O’More students. Be there for an entertaining and historic evening on Main Street in Downtown Franklin and see how design has the power to transform lives.
