1. Chick-fil-A Hwy 96 Grand Opening
WHAT: The newest Williamson County Chick-fil-A, at 1122 Murfreesboro Road, will open on Wednesday, Aug 14, shared operator Bill Pfaender via The Chicken Wire.
The announcement comes about a year ago after the City of Franklin announced two new Chick-fil-A locations. The new Murfreesboro Road Chick-fil-A is located where a Rite Aid store had been located.
The new location will participate in Chick-fil-A’s First 100 Campout tradition. What is the First 100 Campout event? It is an overnight event in the restaurant parking lot that rewards the first 100 customers with a prize worth waiting for – free Chick-fil-A for a year. The First 100 promotion registration will begin at 6:00pm local time on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. The First 100 Campout will conclude at 6:00am local time on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. Participants may be accompanied by up to 5 guests. Prizes will be awarded at 6:00am local time on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

2. Home School Day at Cheekwood
WHAT: Join Cheekwood for its annual Home School Day on August 14th from 9:30-2:30 pm. Hands-on activities for students of all ages will be provided.
Admission to this event is FREE for home school students. Admission for accompanying adults is $20 if you register online through August 13th and $23 at the door.

3. Summer Author Series
WHAT: The Historic Franklin Masonic Hall is hosts a Summer Author Series featuring local authors and their most recent or work-in-progress books about Franklin’s history connected to Tennessee and the United States. This week, Mark Cheatham, Director of the Martin Van Buren Papers at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee and author/editor of seven books, including the award-winning Andrew Jackson, Southerner and The Coming of Democracy: Presidential Campaigning in the Age of Jackson will be featured. His newest book, The Dark Horse Campaign of 1844: Slavery, Westward Expansion, and Presidential Politics will be published by the University of Kansas in 2020.
This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30. Free parking available on the street or in the garage across from the Hall.

4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (PG-13)
WHAT: Following the global success of Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history.
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

WHAT: Whether you’re a pro who wants to stop by for a refresher class or you’re a beginner-level dancer eager to learn some new dance moves, you are welcome to drop into any classes offered by Artistic Elements’ Open Adult Program! Students ages 14 & up are welcome to join for these classes.
