After a successful renovation last year, the Greater Nashville Real Estate Staging Association (GN RESA) returned this year to complete a makeover of eight bedrooms at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home (TBCH) in Brentwood. Last year’s project focused on eight girls rooms.
“This is our way of giving back to the community,” said Molly Hendricks, President of GN RESA said in an email. Fifteen members donated their time and talents for this exciting and fulfilling project.
Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home is a nonprofit organization located in Brentwood that provides residential placement and foster care for children in crisis. The children living there often have histories of trauma and sensory issues. The Nashville stagers and redesign experts, GN RESA members are very aware of how living spaces impact our wellbeing; they wanted to give these boys every opportunity for success.
While walking through the first set of rooms that were completed, one of the house mothers said, “This is amazing, this is amazing…” at every turn during her initial walk through the newly-decorated rooms. Shortly after, a TBCH social worker said, “Holy smokes, the rooms are BEAUTIFUL! For the second year now, I can’t help but be utterly amazed that our kids’ rooms can look this jaw-droppingly beautiful and masculine at the same time.”
Kristie Barnett, The Decorologist and RESA Tennessee State President, chose the color palette for each room, Sherwin-Williams partnered with GN RESA to provide half of the paint and supplies. Other GN RESA members, included; Amy Dennison of Dennison Home Staging, Karen Hattan of Home by Hattan, and Doreen Jones of First Street Interiors who helped paint the rooms and some of the main living areas and hallways. Volunteers from Stonebrook Media and from the Polk Place neighborhood in Franklin assisted in the project.
