Local Author Robert Hicks Diagnosed With Cancer

Robert Hicks

Franklin resident and New York Times best-selling author Robert Hicks is battling some serious health issues, including bladder cancer.

Last week friends found him incoherent and completely incapacitated at his cabin in Bingham, Tenn, states a Caring Bridge Page, established by Hicks’ friends Justin Stelter and Mindy Tate.

He was taken to St Thomas West and was diagnosed with sepsis, a mild heart attack and renal failure.

The Caring Bridge page reveals that just a few days prior to his emergency trip, Hicks was diagnosed with stage two bladder cancer.

Despite his health struggles, Hicks’ friends know he would strive to find humor and positivity in even the direst situation. They jokingly refer to Hicks’ ICU room as a “penthouse suite” and lovingly refer to Hicks as “the survivor.”

“Hicks is a survivor. Robert Hicks has been surrounded by dear friends, or as he would say, his family,” reads his Caring Bridge Page.

Locally, Hicks is known for his Seriously Seerksucker Event and he is also a board member of O’More College of Design.
