BestBlackFriday.com reports that according to a survey they conducted, 72 percent of consumers believe stores should be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The survey went on to say consumers would rather spend Thanksgiving at home than out in traffic and shopping among strangers. And with most retailers offering shopping online, even on Thanksgiving Day, consumers can shop online and not feel compelled to shop in stores for the same deals.

  1. It’s nice to see the list of stores closed on Thanksgiving growing. They should all be closed. Thanksgiving is time for family, not shopping. People that shop on Thanksgiving have no heart (besides the stores themselves). They are self centered and all they want to do is disrupt family time. 1 day without shopping isn’t going to kill you. Grocery stores should also be closed. If you are hosting Thanksgiving and forget something for your meal, too bad! You know Thanksgiving comes every November. If you don’t prepare and make a list of what you need and get it early, don’t expect grocery stores to be open just for you. Those employees also want to be home with their families.

Also, when you do start shopping on Black Friday, be civilized. Don’t act like spoiled children and stampede others to get the latest “must have” gift. People get hurt over such behavior. If they don’t have it, kindly ask when it will come in again and ask if they can hold it for you. Treat the store employees with respect. Don’t yell or get verbally abusive with them. They’re human too.
