TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.  Today we’ll focus on innovations in science and technology –all around the world.  For more information, check out www.ted.com.

July Featured Artist – Terry Alford
Paintings created by Leiper’s Fork artist Terry Alford are on display in the gallery hall this month.  “My paintings are influenced by nature. The new paintings range from representational to abstract and express different ways of seeing the world.  There’s beauty in both – the representational world as most of us see it, and the abstract world made up of light, form, line, texture, energy and color.  I think life’s more interesting when you see it from both sides,” Alford said.
