For the first time since 2012, the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions won’t be playing in the Class 3A state title game.

The Lions broke their three-year streak of state championship appearances with a 33-20 loss at Liberty Tech in a semifinal Friday.

After Liberty Tech took a 13-3 lead into halftime, the Lions stormed back to a 20-13 advantage with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Following a game-tying touchdown with 7:53 to play, Liberty Tech returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the final two minutes to seal the win.

CPA closes with a 7-7 record after starting the year 1-5.
