Liberty Elementary Recognized for their Behavior Support

Liberty Elementary Named a Model School of Demonstration for Behavior Support

The Tennessee Behavior Supports Project (TBSP) has named Liberty Elementary School in Franklin Special School District a Bronze Level Response to Instruction and Intervention for Behavior (RTI2-B) Model of Demonstration School. Of the 1800 schools across Tennessee, only 25 schools are Model of Demonstration Schools.

“We are extremely proud of the work the teachers, staff, and students have put into this positive behavior framework,” said Liberty Elementary principal Cheryl Robey, Ed.D. “The RTI2-B framework puts a methodical process in place to ensure that all students work to their full potential in academics, social and emotional well-being, with the guidance and support of the faculty, staff and administrators.”

The Tennessee Behavior Supports Project (TBSP) is funded by the Tennessee Department of Education and consists of three regional support contracts. The Middle Tennessee region is served by Vanderbilt University. TBSP provides professional development and support to schools on addressing the behavioral and social needs of students through Response to Instruction and Intervention for Behavior (RTI2-B). Tennessee schools must first complete the Tennessee Behavior Supports Project’s RTI2-B Tier I Training before applying to be an RTI2-B Model of Demonstration School. Liberty Elementary attended the training at Vanderbilt University in May 2016 and was selected as Bronze Level by the Model of Demonstration Committee based on the extent to which it has implemented the core features of RTI2-B. The possible exemplar levels are Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Information on these 25 model schools was shared with the Tennessee Department of Education. Liberty Elementary was recognized along with the other model schools at the State’s Partners in Education Conference in February and will also be recognized at the Superintendent Study Council Conference in the fall.
