Last Second FG Puts Washington On Top Titans 19-17

The Tennessee Titans (2-5) are finding new ways to lose close games, and now it’s become almost comical.

The latest chapter in what has become a nightmare horror story for the Titans came on the road at FedExField to face the Washington Redskins. With a gleaming 1-5 record and injury to star quarterback Robert Griffin III, the Titans looked to the the edge. Consider the fact too that Tennessee was 2-0 in D.C.

After scoring another touchdown drive in the fourth quarter, all Tennessee had to do was hold on the last five minutes of regulation. Washington, who benched second-string Kirk Cousins for the third-string Colt McCoy, then goes on to march down the field, use up the final five minutes and set themselves up for a 22-yard field goal, which won the game for the Redskins 19-17.

Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said after the loss he expects Jake Locker, who sat out with a sore right thumb, to be able to play against the visiting Houston Texans next Sunday. Charlie Whitehurst started again and went 17-of-26 for 160 yards, one interception and two TDs.
