Independence was certainly the place to be on Thursday night, as two big match-ups rolled into Thompson Station to compete for a “W”. Last night the Lady Bruins took home the District 11-AAA Volleyball Championship at Independence High School against neighboring rival, Ravenwood.
The teams have been extremely competitive throughout the season. With three-out-of-four match-ups going all five games, the two have fought hard for the title.
During the match-up, the Bruins followed behind with a 3-point deficit to go into the tie-breaker. 24-26, 25-20, 25-15, 21-25, and 15-12 all led to a victory for the blue-and-gold in the end.
The ball was on the other side of the court last year, when the Raptors took the State Championship Title.
Brentwood will travel to McGavock in the Region 6-AAA semifinals on Tuesday, and Ravenwood will take on the undefeated Overton.
