Heavy rains, storms, tornado warnings and flooding plagued much of the area Thursday evening. In fact, flooding is so bad in Davidson County that Metro Nashville schools have decided to close on Friday, Sept 1.

What’s in Store for Labor Day Weekend?

The National Weather Service predicts we will continue to see showers and a few thunderstorms Friday. They will continue to move northeastward overnight as the remnants of Harvey continues in the same direction. Highest rainfall amounts so far up through 1
am show areas in western Davidson County where radar estimated up to 8 inches fell.
Additional rainfall will continue as the low tracks across the area Friday. Models have slowed the movement of the low a bit, and have some additional backside rainfall developing later today, so looking at an additional half inch in the south up to 4 inches near the KY border of additional rainfall. The surface low should be out of the area by the evening, but chances for showers will be ongoing especially for northeastern zones into Saturday morning.

By sunrise Saturday morning, most of the precip chances will be out of the area, but lingering backside showers may persist in northeast zones. Skies will begin to clear from west to east as the low continues its track northeastward, and by Sunday, sunny
skies and highs in the 80s will return to the mid state to finish off the holiday weekend. Conditions look to remain dry until Tuesday.
