Kimberly Williams Paisley’s mother died on Wednesday of this week after a long battle with dementia. Linda Payne Williams was 73 years old and began showing signs of dementia at the age of 59.
Williams-Paisley posted a photo on Instagram, “I will remember you this way, Mom. Rest in love and peace. Linda Williams: June 22nd, 1943-November 16, 2016”
Where the Light Gets In: Losing My Mother Only to Find Her Again is a memoir that Williams-Paisley wrote to document their family’s struggle with dementia. In the book, she says she first noticed changes in her mom’s behavior in 2002, when she told her mom she was getting married to her now-husband, country star Brad Paisley, and was met with silence.
“We are such a close family and I was the first kid to get engaged, and I thought, ‘That’s what it is,” she told People magazine.
Both Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Brad Paisley have thanked the fans for their outpouring of support during this difficult time.
Paisley wrote on his Facebook page, “We are so touched by the outpouring of sympathy for Kim’s mom. Thank you all. After her long battle with this terrible disease, she is free.”
