Where the Light Gets In: Losing My Mother Only to Find Her Again is a memoir that Williams-Paisley wrote to document their family’s struggle with dementia. In the book, she says she first noticed changes in her mom’s behavior in 2002, when she told her mom she was getting married to her now-husband, country star Brad Paisley, and was met with silence.

“We are such a close family and I was the first kid to get engaged, and I thought, ‘That’s what it is,” she told People magazine.

Both Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Brad Paisley have thanked the fans for their outpouring of support during this difficult time.

Paisley wrote on his Facebook page, “We are so touched by the outpouring of sympathy for Kim’s mom. Thank you all. After her long battle with this terrible disease, she is free.”
