Kelly Clarkson returned to American Idol on Thursday night. And it was an emotional event for her, the judges and the audience.This is the last season of American Idol and Clarkson was the very first American Idol winner, making the performance extra special.Due to complications in her pregnancy, Clarkson had to make a decision whether to attend the GRAMMYs or perform on American Idol and we are so glad she chose Idol.
She performed “Piece by Piece”, a song she wrote while she was pregnant with her first child, River Rose. Its a song about meeting a man who didn’t leave like her father did. Although Clarkson became very emotional during her performance, it was American Idol judge Keith Urban’s reaction that had everyone talking.
Urban also was emotional during Clarkson’s performance. Urban addressed his tearful reaction to her poignant song:
“The song, it’s insane. I figure you’re either crying at this performance or you need to check your pulse,” Urban said. “It’s an amazing song.”
