You probably remember the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge of 2014. The ALS Association reports it was “the world’s largest global social media phenomenon,” with more than 17 million uploading their challenge videos to Facebook.
Instead of dumping ice cold water on yourself, one family has created the #ALSPepperChallenge.
Tom Haberstroh, former ESPN announcer, created the hot pepper challenge in support of his mother, Patty who was diagnosed with ALS last year. The family created a video on Christmas Day.
Since that video, other celebrities have taken on the challenge. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood posted a video this week on Garth’s Facebook page where Trisha ate a Haberno pepper and Garth drank hot Dr. Pepper. Afterward, they named Kelly Clarkson to take the challenge.
While Trisha Yearwood was pretty composed, Clarkson on the other hand first admits she’s never had a habanero pepper and jokingly says “I just want to say, first of all, I cannot stand you, Trisha Yearwood, because I was in the clear, Garth didn’t even say my name and then you just brought it out of nowhere!”
Watching as Clarkson tries to talk after taking one bite, she says,“Oh my gosh! I’m not being dramatic, my eyes are crying. This is mean. I can’t stand you, Trisha Yearwood.”
Finally, she was able to challenge her fellow “The Voice” coaches – Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys, and Clarkson’s husband, Brandon Blackstock.
