K-Love Awards Sports Finalists Includes Titan Player

Several prominent sports figures from across the country will head to Nashville later this month for the 2015 K-LOVE Fan Awards. Representing the NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA and the PGA, nominees in the Sports Impact Category are recognized for influencing popular culture for Jesus Christ.

Tom Crean, Head Coach for the Indiana Hoosiers, is among the nominees. In 2012, ESPN.com recognized Crean as National Coach of the Year, and in 2013, he led the Hoosiers to win the Big Ten Championship Title.

Also nominated, is Tennessee Titans Punter Brett Kern, known for having one of the top yards-per-punt averages in the NFL.

Kevin Streelman is the only professional golfer nominated in the Sports Impact category. Streelman has two PGA tour wins under his belt, winning the Tampa Bay Championship in 2013 and the Travelers Championship in 2014.

Seven-foot Boston Celtics Center Tyler Zeller is also nominated. Prior to playing for the Celtics, Zeller played for the Cleveland Cavaliers. In college, Zeller played for the North Carolina Tar Heels and was part of their 2009 NCAA Tournament Championship-winning team.

Another nominee is Former Major League Baseball right fielder Darryl Strawberry. Also an ordained minister, the eight-time All-Star helped lead his team to four World Series championships.

New Orleans Saints Tight End Benjamin Watson is the final nominee. Watson was a round 1 pick on the 2004 NFL draft and played for the New England Patriot’s Superbowl-winning team.

Former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck will present the Sports Impact award at the K-LOVE Fan Awards May 31 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. Tim is married to TV personality Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who will co-host the awards show alongside actor Kirk Cameron.

Also presenting that night will be former NFL player and two-time consensus All-American Brian Bosworth. Bosworth, along with Darryl Strawberry, will present the Male Artist of the Year award.

Winners from several other categories will be announced during the awards show, which will also feature numerous live performances. For additional information, visit klovefanawards.com.

Prior to Sunday’s award show, a Sports Breakfast will be held at the Gaylord Opryland on Saturday, May 30.
