Franklin Police K-9 teams were recognized at the U. S. Police K-9 Associations Police Dog 1 Field Trials. The four teams were awarded 15 of the 25 trophies given during the competition even though three of the teams had never competed before.
Approximately 37 dogs shared in this regional event. Officer Brett Spivy and K-9 Axel received the region’s overall champion award. Also receiving awards were Sergeant Aaron Compton and K-9 Thor, Officer Charlie Richards and K-9 Jager, and Officer Chris Hollingsworth and K-9 Bolo. The event certifies the credibility of canines used by police for testimony during court proceedings.
