The local library has a full schedule of entertainment lined up for you this summer. Check out the branch near you and find out what you are missing. The calendar is packed with meet ups, readings, concerts and more on top of all the fine entertainment and knowledge you can find within the pages of the books waiting for you to take them off the shelves and cherish.
Recently the Williamson County Public Library approved a Mission Statement for the Library. “The Williamson County Public Library System seeks to meet the recreational, educational, and information needs of county patrons through: a significant collection of digital and print materials housed at a network of countywide locations headquartered in Franklin; extensive personal computer and related technology; and diverse and interesting programs targeted to various age groups.”
What they mean is in part explained in the June calendar for the library. A bluegrass concert by Lane Johnson & the Jingo Jammers is set for 2 p.m. Saturday June 1st. This free concert is headlined by the amazing 10 year old fiddle, mandolin, guitar and bass fiddle player Lane Johnson. Come out and support this youngest ever reigning champion of the Murfreesboro Bluegrass festival.
The adult summer reading program is in full effect, just read a book and turn your review into the library at [email protected]. The Writer’s Critique Group meets from 10:30-12:30 Saturday June 1st and 15th. Grid Row features Shannon Haas (Expressionist) & Lisa McReynolds (Impressionist) co-owners of The Art Attic of Franklin this month. Come see the fine display.
For teens the young adult reading program began May 18th and runs through July 13th. Same as adults read a book and write a review. You could win coupons from Moe’s, Smoothie King, Krispy Kreme, and more just for entering. Winners of the 2013 Teen Poetry Contest were announced.
