Jondie features local teens in Back- to- School Fashion LookBook

We sat down with Rebecca Davis, owner of Jondie, in downtown Franklin to talk  back- to- school fashion.  Jondie Boutique chose 13 area  teens to feature in their storefront  window with an  Instagram type installation.  There were two different windows installations created, the second one will be featured this week.   Also,  during CMA week in  June,  Jondie was asked to contribute to the CMT Awards goodie bags for artists and presenters where Rebecca designed antique cufflink wrap bracelets.

WS: As we mentioned you recently worked with area teens on a back-to-school fashion shoot,  can you tell us more about that experience?

Rebecca:    It was a great experience. We had a lot of fun and the young women, who volunteered and represented 6 area High Schools, did an amazing job. We had a fitting at JONDIE and then the photo shoot was on a separate day in our photography & design studio across from our boutique on Main Street. Jennifer, our Creative Director, is a professional makeup artist so we did their hair and makeup before the shoot. The images we took turned out to be just beautiful. The girls were mostly Sophomores and I think they really enjoyed the experience and made some new friends, too.

Many of them had never modeled before. I have a lot of experience as a former model and also in shooting and working with inexperienced models and understand how to help them feel comfortable. Some felt awkward at first, but when we started shooting – their personalities really came out and it was really fun to see them find a new side of themselves that they maybe didn’t know existed.

WS:  As a mom, how do you handle your relationship with your daughters regarding their fashion choices?

Rebecca: When I was a teen, I was lucky that my Mom saw my interest in fashion as a way to express myself and my uniqueness. I try to do the same with my daughters. They are ages 9 and 15. I think they have great taste and I enjoy seeing things that they put together. My youngest and I will sometimes disagree because I might not think something she is wearing matches, but I usually let her go with it.

WS: What are some of the biggest trends you see teens wearing this fall?

Rebecca: Textures are going to be really big. I see flannels, fuzzy sweaters and vegan leather and faux fur being on trend and easy to add to update your wardrobe.

Thanks again to Rebecca Davis for taking time out to share about back-to-school fashion.  Check back next week as Rebecca shares some of her tips for dressing your daughter this fall.
