The Iroquois Steeplechase will celebrate 76 years on Saturday, May 13, but the fanfare surrounding ‘Nashville’s Rite of Spring Since 1941’ will begin on Friday, May 12 with a party on the race grounds at Percy Warner Park from 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The new Fox Den hospitality tent located in middle of the infield will be the setting for the event which will be reminiscent of an evening garden party, hosted by the Iroquois Steeplechase’s membership group, the Iroquois Alliance, and sponsored by Gus Mayer. Guests will enjoy dinner by Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, beverages, and entertainment by local 60s and 70s cover band, The Exotics.

The party will not only provide sponsors, horse owners, trainers, and Steeplechase patrons an opportunity to ring in the much anticipated Iroquois Steeplechase held annually on the second Saturday of May but will also serve to raise funds for the organization and its various causes, including primary beneficiary Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Both silent and live auctions will be held during the evening, offering partygoers the opportunity to bid on prizes that include packages from various upscale merchants, exciting experiences such as an African safari trip, and the 2017 official race day painting, titled “Soaring” by featured artist Debbie Sampson, among other items.

Tickets to the pre-race party are $75 each and can be purchased online.  To learn more about the Iroquois Steeplechase, the Iroquois Alliance, or the causes which Steeplechase proceeds benefit, visit the Steeplechase website.
