Jason Aldean Appears on SNL with Tom Petty Song

Jason Aldean made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, opening the show with a few words about the Las Vegas tragedy.

“This week we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American history. Like everyone I’m struggling to understand what happened that night and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal,” Aldean said starting the show. “So many people are hurting.”

Aldean performed the Tom Petty song, “I Won’t Back Down” which at the time of this article has been viewed almost 2 million times.

On Sunday, Aldean’s wife Brittany posted a photo on Instagram of the couple as they returned to Vegas for the first time since the tragic incident last week. The couple was standing next to the Mandalay Bay hotel, the site of the tragic shooting the week prior at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

“Feels surreal being back in Vegas today. Visiting some of the strongest people we have ever met… fighting the toughest battle of them all… for their lives. You have helped us try to begin the healing process by seeing the strength each one of you have. Thank you for today. We will never forget.” said Brittany Aldean.

Jason Aldean canceled all of his tour dates last week but will pick up the tour in Tulsa on October 12th.
