Christ Presbyterian Academy won a shootout with Independence by a 55-37 score on Friday, snapping the Eagles’ two-game winning streak. 

Independence was within five points at the end of the third quarter, but CPA scored the game’s last 13 points. 

Independence’s Isaiah Collier returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a score, Weston Landry’s point-after giving the Eagles a 7-0 advantage. 

CPA answered with Bryce McCormick’s pass to Noah Henderson, a 14-yard touchdown, with John Michael’s point-after tying the game.

Independence’s Ethan Cash then hit T.J. Sheffield with a 67-yard scoring pass, before Kane Patterson helped CPA tie the game at 14 with his 4-yard touchdown run. 

CPA’s Ryan Eledge had a 9-yard touchdown run to open the second quarter. Then, Cash tied the game again with a 23-yarder to Collier, before CPA’s Sam West put the Lions up again with a 54-yard touchdown run. 

But after Independence scored 16 third-quarter points, the Eagles couldn’t close.

Independence (3-4) hosts Dickson County next week.
