My momma is as southern as can be…or as she would say, southern to the bone. I’ve heard so many funny, yet delightful southernisms from her, like:
When she’s busy — “I’ve been runnin’ round like a chicken with it’s head cut off.”
When she is upset — “I’m just havin’ a hissy-fit.”
When she really means what she says — “I’m gonna tan your hide,” or “I’m gonna jerk a knot in your tail.”
When she has had plenty to eat — “I’m full as a tick.”
When she is surprised — “Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit.”
Bless her heart, momma means well each time she uses these southern expressions! And to those who still do not understand southern lingo, bless your hearts.
Now, Sugah, send this to your friends who were raised in the South or wish they had been!
Happy Mother’s Day to all Mommas!
