Here are our Williamson County Defensive Players of the Week for Week 2, in descending order. (That’s Christ Presbyterian Academy’s Kane Patterson in the photo.)

5. Luke Bowers, Page

Page is off to a 2-0 start thanks to some standout defensive performances. This week, it was linebacker Luke Bowers who came up huge. Bowers registered 12 tackles (eight solo) as Page ran away from Nolensville, 43-13.

4. Matt Gaca, Franklin

The Rebels fell 24-7 to a tough Riverdale squad last week, but Matt Gaca was impressive in defeat. The junior amassed 10 1/2 tackles (seven solo), had 1 1/2 steps for loss, and carried 11 times for 78 yards and a touchdown, including a 48-yard dash that accounted for Franklin’s only points. Here’s a look at video highlights from Gaca’s evening.

3. Tyler Baron, Ensworth

Ensworth also went down last Friday by a 21-20 count to CPA, but another area player turned in a great effort in defeat. Sophomore Tyler Baron had 10 1/2 tackles, 1 1/2 for loss, in the Tigers’ overtime defeat. Here’s video of Baron doing work in that game.

2. C.J. Grissim, Brentwood

Here’s a name that just keeps popping up at every turn. Last year’s District Defensive Player of the Year was at it again last Friday. The senior linebacker had 10 stops (four solo), an interception and a quarterback pressure, as the Bruins beat Cane Ridge, 41-21. Here are video highlights from Grissim’s evening.

1. Kane Patterson, Christ Presbyterian Academy

Christ Presbyterian Academy Rallies Late, Takes Hillsboro to the Wire

Patterson, one of the area’s quietly more heavily-recruited players, continues to turn in great work. The junior had 11 tackles and ran 18 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns, as CPA knocked off Ensworth, 21-20. Here’s video of Patterson in action against the Tigers.
