HS Baseball Recap: Brentwood Rallies Late for 20th Win

Brentwood 5, Smyrna 3

The Bruins got their 20th win of the season, but it took a come-from-behind effort to the “W”

Smyrna added 2 runs in the fourth to increase their lead 3-0. Brentwood got back a couple of runs in the top of the fifth and added three more in the top of the sixth to take the lead 5-3.

Brentwood will have a three game series with Franklin starting on Monday at Franklin.

Summit 4, Stewarts Creek 0

The Spartans scored all four runs in the bottom of the second, none of which came off of a base hit. Summit got two runs on bases loaded hit by pitches. The third run to cross the plate came on a wild pitch and the fourth was due to a dropped third strike.

Ethan Kuehl got the RBI on the first hit batsman and the Dale Burdick got the second.

Austin Jones was credited with the win, going four innings while Johnson came in, in relief for three more shutout innings. The two pitchers combined to give up just two hits, while striking out seven.

Spring Hill 7 Beech 2

Beech outhit the Raiders 7 to 5 but Spring Hill made the most of their hits and got all of their scoring production in the top of the fourth.

In that inning the Raiders already had two players cross the plate when they loaded the bases up for Josh Wilkinson. Him and the next two batters would reach on baseballs allowing three more runs to score.

Beech gift wrapped another run on a throw down to third that got away and the inning was capped off by a Daniel Prewett double to center that scored Brandon Hardison.

Connor Pierce notched the win, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out three.

Spring Hill 7, Creekwood 3

The Raiders got another win earlier today Darian Prewett singled in the first and the second, both innings were very kind to the Spring Hill Raiders as they scored 5 of their first 7 runs in the first two frames.

Zach King was credited with the win.

Spring Hill is now 14-10 and will play two more games tomorrow.

Brentwood Academy 4 Baylor 2 (Game one)

The Eagles also played two games yesterday and won the first one in thrilling fashion.

Clay Morrison broke up a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth by doubling on a line drive to left field, that scored Sam Scruggs.

BA added an insurance run on a  sacrifice fly by Cole Marciniak.

With the tying run at the plate and one out, Kyle Conger came in and  got the next two Baylor batters to fly-out and ground one back to him to end the game.

The win went to Jay Stanga who struck out five in six and a third innings.

Baylor 9, Brentwood Academy 8 (Game Two)

Brentwood Academy trailed 9-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth but rallied in that inning to make things interested.

Kyle Conger had three hits, none of them bigger than the triple was part of the six run sixth inning to cut the lead to one at 9-8.

However, the Eagles couldn’t scratch across another run to fall to 7-11-2.

Siegal 7, Independence 1

Siegal scored four in the top of the first and that would be all they would need. Independence got one run in the bottom of the 7th on a sac fly by Tim Wright.

South Pitt 5, FRA 3

The Panthers got a big 2-RBI double by Hunter in the top of the sixth to cut into the South Pitt lead but were unable to get over the hump as they fall to 13-6.

Christian Brothers High 8 BGA 7

The Wildcats led by 2 heading into the top half of the seventh but gave up three runs to fall to Christian Brothers 8-7.

Coleman Kruse went two for four with two rbi’s to lead BGA at the plate.

Battle Ground Academy will play Zion Christian on Monday after falling to 14-9 on the season.

BGA also lost another shoot-out to Lakota East by a final of 9-8
