How You Can Be an “Angel of Mercy” & Help the Underserved

Mercy Community Healthcare

Mercy Community Healthcare was founded as Mercy Children’s Clinic in 1999 with a simple mission: to help ensure that underserved children had access to quality healthcare. That mission was expanded in 2006 to serve the entire community with a focus on holistic wellness, offering comprehensive mental, physical and spiritual services to children and adults from all walks of life. Today, the non-profit clinic sees more than 8,000 patients a year, thanks to the generosity of its supporters.

“We serve a critical need, and the health insurance landscape is causing more people to put off going to the doctor because they don’t have adequate coverage,” says Mercy Community Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Cindy Siler. “Mercy exists to reflect the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing excellent healthcare to all, regardless of the circumstance, and the Angels of Mercy campaign helps achieve that mission.”

Angels of Mercy was designed to facilitate monthly financial contributions that add up to large annual gifts, which affect lives in meaningful ways. A tax-deductible gift of $100 a month would allow 60 people who otherwise can’t afford it to get a flu shot, or five children could be covered with immunizations so they can go to school. One “Angel of Mercy” could help a sick person get access to medicine, or someone experiencing a personal crisis could have an opportunity to see a qualified counselor.

“So many people believe in our mission and ask how they can help. Our Angels of Mercy make our work possible,” Siler says. “The impact of one individual’s contribution is significant, and collectively, those gifts are powerful enough to change an entire family’s worldview. When people are healthy, they have hope for a brighter future. Combine Mercy and hope, and anything is possible.”
